Wordpress is our favourite CMS for small to medium websites + we provide a range of wordpress hosting services and as such we get to see which problems crop up again and again for new users. Joomla site not ranking quite as well as you would hope for? It maybe worth checking to make sure your homepage is not indexed twice as http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/ and http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/index.php.
While you are at it, you may as well make sure you have not got any extra subdomains, alternate domains (.co.uk & .com) or listings for the http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk and http://yourwebsite.co.uk (no www).

Google has changed the name of Local Business Centre to Google Places. Nearly all of the mod_rewrite and .htaccess tutorials on the internet are focussed on using the undoubted power of mod_rewrite to rewrite messy, variable heavy urls (page.php?id=1&title=hello&name=world) into cute, fluffy urls without the messy query string. This is fine but... what about if you want to do this in reverse just rewrite a URL with a query string into a URL without?
